Welcome to my first highlight reel covering the 2016 – 2017 wedding season… well, ish. October through August.

Seeing as I’m going to take a wee break shortly (keep reading to find out why), I thought I should celebrate what the past year has looked like for me. In that time I have seen more of New Zealand than I’ve done in my whole life, travelled internationally, was a bridesmaid at my bestie’s beautiful Cayman Islands wedding, photographed family and engagement sessions, and with the help of my very DIY hubby we somehow managed to completely gut and renovate our kitchen, dining and lounge *just* in time to host family Christmas… and then we replaced our roof.
I’ve recently been wondering why it is I can’t quite seem to get myself on top of all the admin us photographers do in our off-season, but after writing that sentence I can now see why. Boy has life been busy, it really hasn’t slowed down since last October. Now I’m growing a little human and have embarked on a shortened 2017/18 season, it’s about to get even busier!

This post is all about celebrating that beautiful chaos. You’re going to be treated to anything and everything – from travel snaps to the tiniest of lovely details spotted at weddings. Sometimes I wonder whether I ought to be more in line with the current photography trends, all those deep, beautifully moody images, but looking at my compilation below I’m reassured that there’s a reason I’m not.  I produce what I love… and that’s a celebration of colour, big smiles, epic landscapes, quiet moments, and a consistent version of how I see the world.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all my wonderful couples. Bearing witness to and capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments is an incredible thing to be entrusted with, it’s a real privilege.
You’ve shared so much with me – I’ve had my picture drawn by kids at the dinner table, helped pin buttonholes on suits (it’s practically every wedding now), had good yarns with Uncle Bob about his days in the darkroom, scoffed my mouth with canapés and cake and collaborated with other industry rockstars. There are so many vendors to thank that I can’t list them all, but please know that I truly appreciate everything you talented souls do. This body of work would not exist without you. A special thanks must go to Bryce, Rachel, Tarryn and Jane for second shooting with me along the way.

Some of the weddings I photographed are being kept private so you won’t see everything I shot, but I reckon there’s more than enough to keep you going here.
Chuck on your favourite playlist, grab a cuppa and sit back and enjoy what I (quite unashamedly) think is a bit of a visual treat.  Nothing’s in chronological order, but it doesn’t have to be.

And that wraps up my little recap. Much love from our small but growing Wark family.
